Come join us at for some ice/spear fishing and winter time fun! Winter is a great time to visit Birch Villa Resort with hundreds of miles of Snowmobile/Cross Country Ski trails and a 15,000 acre lake to ice fish and spear fish. Cass Lake offers great ice fishing opportunities, with jumbo perch, walleye, and northern with hot spots just outside your cabin door. There's something for everyone! You can even enjoy down hill skiing and ice skating. We have Cabins 10 and 12 available for winter rental. Remember after your finished enjoying the beautiful scenery, warm up by the fireplace in your cabin or join us in the lodge!
Ice Fishing
Ice fish Cass Lake, right in front of your cabin to get the big catch. Bring your gear, dress warm and have fun! Or bring your own ice house and try your luck on one of the lakes in our 7 lake chain. For the first time in many years spear fishing is now allowed on Cass lake. Take the opportunity to spear and angle fish at the same time. For the local fishing report check Froggy's Sports.
Snowmobiling
Make the wintry trip here and you will be rewarded with beautiful scenery, groomed trails and limited crowds. There's no better snowmobiling than in the north-woods. What could be better than waking up to a fresh coating of snow. Start with a great breakfast, then hit one of the many trails leading away from the resort. Our resort is connected to 1000's of miles of beautiful trails. The trails leading to Itasca State Park can be an excellent adventure.

Cross Country Skiing
Whether you are a beginner or pro, the ski trails are designed for every level of expertise. Cross country skiing is a great opportunity to marvel at the beauty of the nature and enjoy the solitude. You can cross country skiing through miles of trails in the Chippewa National Forest or over 160 km of trails just to the west of Cass Lake. Down Hill Skiing
Thirty minutes west of Cass Lake is the Buena Vista Ski Area, which strides the Continental Divide and offers 15 groomed downhill runs, four chair lifts, a beginners tow and comfortable three story chalet to relax by the fireplace. Equipment rental is available
